Raduan van Velthem Meira

I am a Ph.D. candidate at Washington University in St. Louis, focusing on comparative politics and quantitative methods.

My research investigates recent changes in the public’s political behavior across Latin America. The emphasis of my substantive research is on the conservative turn and the rise of the populist radical right in Latin America. However, I also do research on the political impact of the Venezuelan diaspora across the region. I use quantitative methods to address these research questions. My work contributes to our understanding of populism and the rise of political right in developing countries, enlarging our understanding of these phenomena.

Besides academia, I like to cook, watch soccer, and enjoy a cold beer while solving all the problems of the world at a bar table with some friends.

I am proudly Brazilian and a Flamengo supporter. You can get in touch with me at raduaneugenio@wustl.edu.
